Dear ASID Members,

It’s time to get geared up for a new year at the New England Chapter of ASID!  On October 1st, the 2009-2010 board of directors will officially begin their term.  But first we must acknowledge the exceptional dedication and many contributions made to our chapter by the 2008-2009 board of directors.  All of these individuals are volunteer members who take time from their busy lives to give back to ASIDNE.

PRESIDENT ELECT
Lynda Onthank, our incoming chapter president, is a whirlwind of energy.  She juggles dozens of balls, never lets them drop and then adds a few more!  Lynda has worked tirelessly to bring in many wonderful sponsors for our annual awards gala, ensuring a fabulous event!  She is also focused on providing high quality CEU programs during the coming year.  I know her term as ASIDNE president will be a great success that will benefit the entire chapter.  Thank you Lynda!

FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
Sally Wilson is our outgoing and incoming financial director.  Sally’s dedication to serving ASIDNE is inspiring.  Sally’s experience, knowledge and attention to detail are reassuring during these challenging economic times.  We are in good hands with Sally overseeing our chapter’s financial team.  Thank you Sally!

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR
Susan Hayes had a fabulous year as membership director.  Susan’s youthful energy and perspective as an industry partner created a great dynamic on the board.  We were so sorry to see her move to New York in June!  Thank you and good luck Susan!

We were very lucky however, to have Cheryl Morrison step in as membership director for the remainder of the two-year term (right after she began her position as our newsletter editor!).  Cheryl is very organized and dependable.  She’s just returned from ASID chapter leadership training armed with information and enthusiasm to make 2009-10 an amazing year for membership.  Thank you Cheryl!

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Susan Brisk is coming to the end of her term as director of professional development.  Over the past two years, Susan has helped to see many more programs and events offered for members.  She originally started volunteering for ASIDNE when she felt that the chapter was not running enough member events.  If more of us followed Susan’s example of making the changes we’d like to see happen, imagine the possibilities!

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Not only has Cathy Kert been a hard working and enthusiastic board member, Cathy can be credited with the enormous task of starting up our current newsletter, Design Community.  It has even been recently used as a national example by the publishing company!  Cathy’s time on the ASIDNE chapter board has benefited the entire chapter.  Thank you Cathy!

DIRECTOR AT LARGE
Patti D’Angelo joined the board on short notice in January and immediately stepped up to the plate.  She has been instrumental in organizing several of our chapter programs this spring, including the Distinguished Speaker Series CEU and the Spring Fling.  Patti is always willing to do whatever needs to be done and her volunteer experience has been an incredible asset to the board.  Thank you Patti!

STUDENT REP TO THE BOARD
Despite a busy student schedule, including thesis work, Susan Shaw was a very active board member.  She is insightful, energetic and provided the board with a valuable perspective of interior design student views and interests.  Amidst packing for her move to California, Susan organized the first Student Road Show.  She also helped to find a replacement SRB.  Thank you Susan!

Senofer Mendoza has been working at lightning speed since joining the board as the SRB in January.  Senofer has already made many contributions to the board.  Her out-of-the-box thinking and do-anything attitude have helped our chapter grow in new and exciting directions.  Thank you Senofer!

CHAPTER ADMINISTRATOR
And we can’t forget to give a huge thanks to our chapter administrator, Nina Hayes!  Nina helps to keep our chapter office running smoothly and provides amazing support to the board of directors and our entire chapter membership.  Thank you Nina!

MEMBERSHIP
Last but not least, thank you, the members of the New England Chapter of ASID!  It’s been a true privilege to have served as your president for the past year.  I appreciate the opportunity to have supported our design community this way and encourage all of you to think about volunteering, as well!

Sincerely,

Signature
