B05-The Future of Incandescent Lighting - CEU
ASID presents, "The Future of
Incandescent Lighting," a CEU during
the RDC 2010 convention. 2007
Federal Energy Legislation includes
measures to totally phase out the
manufacturing of most incandescent
light bulbs by 2012. Modern
fluorescent, enhanced halogen, and
rapidly progressing LED lighting
technologies are gaining ground in the
lighting industry and in consumer
preferences. We discuss how
designers and architects can achieve
beautiful interior lighting in living
rooms, dining rooms, bedroom, and
kitchens using energy efficient
lighting technology.

B14- Are you Pushing Your Customers to the Competition? - CEU
ASID New England presents, "Are you
Pushing Your Customers to the
Competition?" a CEU during the RDC
this
year. We take a long hard look in the
mirror to learn how to break bad
habits and increase sales. This is a
must-attend workshop for all design
professionals who want to attract and
retain clients by re-learning the
fundamentals of great service. We
discuss methods that show you how to
stop chasing the competition now, and
become the competition in the future.

B25 - Sharpen Your Digital Pencil: 3D Modeling Using SketchUp - CEU
ASID New England presents,"Sharpen
Your Digital Pencil: 3D Modeling Using
SketchUp," a CEU during the RDC. An
introduction to 3D modeling using
Google SketchUp. See how this easy-
to-use software can be implemented
throughout a project. The seminar is
not intended as a class to teach
SketchUp, but rather to show how
SketchUp can be integrated into a
designer’s process and be used to
maximum effect. SketchUp bridges
the gap between 2D drawing and 3D
modeling by enabling you to draw
using a familiar pencil and paper
paradigm in a software context. A
demonstration illustrates the
discussion.

Marketing Yourself
Are you faced with the task of looking
for a job or an internship, or rapidly
approaching graduation? How long
has it been since you have looked at
your resume or your portfolio? Then
this Marketing Yourself event will help
you to hone your presentation skills
and make sure that you are attracting
the types of employers you actually
want to work for. We think constantly
about creating a strategic image for
our clients, but as designers we rarely
apply these skills to ourselves, and the
image we project to the professional
world. What does your brand say
about you and how do you make it say
what you would like? Please bring
your resumes and portfolios for
feedback if you would like. RSVP to
Nina Hayes at 617-261-3995 or
info@asidne.org.
